It’s International Women’s Day so let’s chat about one of the amazing trainers and her epic goal for 2018.

During work hours you will find Jacqui Bell pushing her loyal 12RNDers to reach their goals at our Greenslopes club. But, once she clocks off she is working towards her biggest fitness goal yet – to be the youngest Female in the World to complete Racing The Planet’s Four Deserts Grand Slam in one calendar year, whilst raising funds for the White Cloud Foundation.

The 4 Deserts is no easy feat and Jacqui’s first marathon will take place in April in the Sahara Desert, where she will cover 250kms over 7 days, tackling the largest and most forbidding desert on the planet to raise awareness for mental health. After the Sahara Race she will then complete the Atacama Crossing in Chile, the Gobi March in China and The Last Desert in Antartica all by the end of 2018.

In the lead up to April Jacqui is aiming to run 150-160km’s each week to condition her body for the first marathon which will push her to her limits both mentally and physically. Last weekend Jacqui spent 2 days covering almost 60kms on Moreton Island all kitted up with her gear to prepare for the upcoming Sahara marathon. Competitors must carry their all of their own equipment across the deserts with only drinking water and a tent each night provided over the gruelling 7 days.

Jacqui is the perfect example of a 12RND everyday athlete and it just goes to show what you can achieve when you put your mind towards a goal. The whole team at 12RND are behind her and are eagerly following along her journey, you can keep up with Jacqui’s training and preparation on her blog and follow her fundraising efforts on her Everyday Hero page.

Don’t forget to give her a big high five if you see her at Greenslopes.
